Are You a Producer or Consumer CEO?

Alisa was a consultant at my How to leverage “A” clients for higher profitability workshop. She’s ready to move ahead in her business; tired of overworking and under receiving; tired of wondering how to differentiate herself from the billions of other consultants in the marketplace.  She loves the idea of working with more clients who will meet her halfway and who trust her and are willing to be collaborative.  But she’s hesitant about committing to a change and I can see that she has fallen into the “bird-in-the-hand” trap. She’s shifted her business mindset from producer to consumer.

The producer mindset is the one we have when we start our business – we have no choice. We have to invest upfront – plan, gather resources, imagine where we want to go, then throw it all into the market and believe — with no guarantees.

But something happens to us once we have a sale or two. Our mindset shifts from producer to consumer.  Now it’s about protecting what we have – of holding onto the “bird-in-the-hand.”

We switch from imagining where we want to go and believing with no guarantees, to being afraid to do anything differently than how we did it for the last sale.  And now we, demand guarantees before we invest – forgetting that change doesn’t require our permission.

Let’s take a lesson from another sector — could a farmer do that? No.  Farmers are masters of the producer mindset – mother nature demands it. They plan, gather their resources, plant and believe – no guarantees – year after year.  In between, they water, fertilize and de-weed – nurturing their dream. Then they harvest what mother nature, the ultimate change agent, gives back to them.

Business should be like that — dream, gather resources, release best effort, and harvest.  Really, does a farmer expect to yield a new crop from last year’s corn stalks? Why should we?

Ugh!

“Ugh, I don’t know what to do!” How many times have you said that? The insight you need is waiting for you, but you must learn to listen for it. Sometimes it helps to distract the intellect, which simply wants to “do what it knows.” I do this by doing something physical – walking, dancing, exercising, cleaning the house. These activities occupy the mind and create the space for inspiration to come in.

In this picture, I was a little lost in Estonia – trying to find my group meeting. This was the exterior of a dicey, dilapidated housing complex. I stopped, took several deep breaths and when I opened my eyes, I saw a friend and we found the meeting together. Ahhhh..

Need A Reason to Keep the Faith?

Think of the young ones you love. This is my niece Clarke. She is even more kind and brilliant than she is beautiful. I take my stand and pursue my dreams for the young ones I love like her and my daughter and my son. Her senior year at USC was interrupted, but she’s thriving all the same because she’s focused, with a loving heart and surrounded by love.⠀⠀⠀

When you start to doubt or fear, dig deep for the courage to carry on for them.

It’s Monday!

It’s Monday, the day with the greatest expectations for the week. As such, it has become my “truth check” day. What am I resisting and what is missing?

Play time?
Snuggle time?
Me time?
Organizing time?

I look at these things and rather than resist I simply breathe and say “Yes” and allow the space for these things in the week.

Perpetual Adaptation

Flourish Virtual Course A friend said to me recently that we were almost beyond the point of “no return.” I could hear the resignation in her voice. I shared with her that we are not at that point, but we are, in fact, learning and evolving into a new way of being. I’m calling it “perpetual adaptation.” Changing on the fly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’re in the middle of a total revolution in the way we think and act – being perpetually prepared to adapt. No shock. The need to change will definitely come, and often in unexpected ways. So be prepared. If we’re willing to do this we will see the opportunities and act on them and thrive.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Deeper Meaning – Are You Looking For It?

I remember when I realized that the work I was doing, wasn’t fulfilling me. No disrespect to the job or the others who worked there – it was good work, it was just no longer good…for me.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I quit that job 17 years ago and I’ve spent those years joyfully developing, evolving, and doing work that I love. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The process I developed to help other people to align with their work is called the Soul Code. We tap into that code to provide direction that is unique to you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you’re feeling like you’re ready for work with deeper meaning or purpose or if you want to bring a deeper level of meaning into your business, start with a step into your soul code. Try this free gift exercise now.

Interesting Times

Ahhh, Venice last summer. So beautiful and affirming. I hold this future in my heart.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These shots are from the Venice Biennale – a bi-annual international modern art exhibition. The theme was, eerily enough, “May you live in interesting times.” I’d say we are. But I also remain encouraged by the possibilities.

Now Is Your Time

The first picture is me sitting on the grand canal in Venice last summer. I had just gotten the first samples of my ZoeGoes sustainable capsule collection and I was testing them out all summer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The second picture is where I am today, brand launched and taking orders (ironically, we launched the same week as the shelter-in-home order) but still, maneuvering well and excited about the orders already in and the ones to come.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you want to talk about how I did it; how I went from passion (travel, design, beauty, empowerment, fashion), to product @ZoeGoesOfficial, to profits and how you can bring your product or service idea to life grab a Jump Start Chat with me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ll be announcing a free “Ok, so I think I’m ready.” also known as, “Enough messin’ around already, let’s go!” clinic shortly. We’re going to evaluate the business set up that would work best for you and then what your idea might look like in that context. This is all so that you start off in a place of empowerment and alignment. If you already have a business and feel like it needs a makeover, you’re definitely welcome too!
